Information Collection and Use
Your individual information will be protected in all data resulting from this study.
The app scans the 3D face model (in .obj format) and the texture image (in .jpg format) of a participant. The participant enters his/her name on the informed consent and then answers a few questions such as age, race, gender, and whether had facial surgery. Once participated, the scanned 3D model of the participant's face is uploaded to a secure AWS server. The collected 3D facial model files are named in a way that does not reveal the participant's name/identity. The participant's name and demographic information are securely stored separately from the 3D model files. The participant's 3D model will be part of a database of 3D models of the face. The 3D model database will be utilized for research to develop novel methodologies for facial surgeries and recognition. There is no definite time limit regarding how long collected data will be stored in the database.
More details of data collection is given in the Informed Consent form. This research project has been reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) with approval number # 22-073 at Embry Riddle University, Florida.
